Community Arts at Langtree School, Specialist Arts College
Within the Arts, we aim to:
Increase opportunity, Widen experience, Encourage participation and Stimulate enjoyment
By offering a variety of high quality arts and craft-based, friendly courses and hosting these courses in specialist rooms.
By subsiding the cost of these courses via our Community Arts Grant and engaging successful practitioners to lead
the courses who have the skills to encourage, support and develop ‘the artist’ within the course participants.

This workshop will be held at Langtree School 11am - 1pm. Ideas to help get your own journal or theme journal started. Perfect for the artist who says ‘I can't draw a straight line!’ as well as the experienced artist who is looking for some new techniques. Learn different ways of seeing, different ways of sketching and drawing for water colouring, water colour tricks, Fresh and quick colour techniques How to apply washes, use colour successfully to enhance your work and learn how to feel confident about your work.
This workshop will be held at Langtree School 10am - 4pm. Covering digital imaging basics using cameras, the role of megapixels and explaining the Format in which pictures are saved with particular reference to JPEG. This also covers saving pictures to cd-rom, photographing people, picturing enhancement, fine tuning, light colour and saving.
We currently have places open to anyone with a passion for song. We do not ask you to audition and
there is no need to be able to read music. All that we ask of members is to give one night a week for our
regular workshops and rehearsals, and one night a term for a performance. There are no age restrictions
and we will be singing everything from doo-wop to hip hop, folk to funk, as well as innovative vocal music
by contemporary composers.
We meet on Monday evenings, 7.30-9.30pm, at Langtree School, Music Studio.

Tuesday night classes start from the beginning for new dancers or those who wish to go over the steps
again at intermediate level. They will consist of an hour of ballroom and an hour of Latin,
within the Langtree main hall.
Starting at 7.30pm these are very sociable classes,
and will teach basic steps for all the dances at a pace which everyone should feel comfortable with.
This Tuesday night class is very ‘hands-on’ and you will be making jewellery within the first hour. You will be carefully guided in the use of all tools and various related safety issues. Your tutor will set you projects that are specifically chosen to give you a good understanding of basic skills as well as finished items of silver jewellery.
Would you like to learn how to make your way around a computer? Turn it on, turn it off how about opening a program (Word)? This workshop is aimed at absolute beginners. The course includes the basics in using a home PC. We will be showing you how to use a keyboard and mouse, with a little background knowledge, we will show you parts of the computer that could make your life easier.
Explore a full range of techniques, artistic viewpoints and navigate one of life's most complicated (inhabited) landscape of nature: the human figure. Long or short poses will be interspersed with exercises specifically designed to allow you to sensitise your perceptions and assist you to express what you see, after helping you to truly see it.
This course seeks to help students at all levels of experience in ceramics or pottery. Learn the art of basic hand building, experimenting with various ceramic techniques including pinching, modeling, slab building and coiling. This will ensure that all the participating students will create and develop a diverse range of work, making a variety of functional and sculptural objects in clay.

All these courses will be run on a first come first serve basis and we reserve the right to cancel the course if there are insufficient numbers attending. All these activity require advance booking.
