Between 1.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. on Saturday 17th September the annual Woodcote Festival will be held, a grand event for the village, with loads of events and activities, including a horticultural display and competition.
There are more attractions this year. Those on the Green are: a Bouncy Castle, a Coconut Shy, Lucky Dip, Face Painting, a great barbeque (incredibly popular last year), a Climbing Wall, a tombola, a raffle, and a Punch and Judy show.
The will also be an ice-cream van, as well as a stall selling candy floss. The fire engine from Goring will also be present; it was a real treat for the youngsters, last year, so it is great to have it back again.
Exhibitors can start setting up their stalls and stands from 9.00 a.m. onwards, on the day.
John Gant and his Broad Street Band will provide music, during the afternoon, and also there will be other live music to entertain everyone.
Many local groups will be involved: the WI, St Leonard's, Christ the King, Woodcote Pre-school, The Cabin Pre-School, the Toddler Group, Woodcote Primary School and St John’s Church at Stoke Rowe. Langtree School will be presenting a project about ‘old’ Woodcote, which will be of interest to those curious about the history of the village.
In the main hall, there will be horticultural and arts and crafts competitions.
A good number of entries are expected, and the competition for the best of
these is, again, likely to be fierce.
Please note that the judging of the Sun Flowers will be judged at the allotments
on the morning of Thursday 15th September.
So, please turn up one and all. The festival is being staged as an event for the whole family, with attractions and entertainment for everyone. The ambiance and feeling of bien être, throughout the afternoon, was terrific last year, and it will be great to have a good turnout again, from the village this year.
