Woodcote Youth Club provides a base for local Youths aged 11 to 19 years of age to ‘Chill out’ under the guidance of a professional Youth Worker assisted by Volunteer helpers. The Youth Club provides a range of activities and liaison with other Youth activities in the County.
The success of the Club is dependent on the enthusiasm of the Youth with the support of staffing.
Hitherto the Youths have been able to relax in a safe environment with activities such as :- Pool, Table Tennis, Cookery, Art or just relax and chat. With concerted efforts in fund raising the Youths have been able to enjoy not only the fund raising activities but also :- Paintballing, Ice skating and Graffiti Art work. The range of activities is dependent on the wishes of the Youths and their contribution to fund raising activates.
The Committee welcomes new members, Youths and Volunteer Helpers.
The Woodcote Village Appraisals (1983, 1991, 2000, 2007) identified a need for the Woodcote Youth Club to have a permanent base. Public funding enabled the first Woodcote Youth Centre to be set up in 1992 in association with developing the Woodcote Community Centre at the Old School House.
By 2000 the Youth Centre building became financially unserviceable and with funding from the Lottery, Local Authorities and Public support the western end of the Woodcote Village Hall was refurbished (2002-3) to provide suitable accommodation. This facility was managed by the Woodcote Youth Development Group until 2009 when the management was handed over to the newly formed Woodcote Youth Club Management Committee.
In 2010 the Thames Valley Police supported by Connexions set-up ‘Drop-In’ sessions in the Youth Centre, offering a base in which Youth can relax at the end of the week.
